"REACH" Almost Finished With Film Production

West Side Stages is almost finished filming their new production – “Reach,” The Movie! – It’s a new horror-thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

"Reach’s" mission is to create a different kind of horror film that takes the genre to a new level using the tried-and-true story techniques of the past, and blending them with modern day technology and current generation themes. This movie takes after the newly popular subject of geeks dealing with the flight or fight issue such as “Superbad” and “Napoleon Dynamite,” but in the horror genre, which makes it unique and sure for laughs.

“Reach” is about a group of geeky high school kids who ditch their sucky Senior Prom to enjoy their night of freedom on their own little adventure. When they come across an abandoned farm they think they have all to themselves for the night, they quickly find out that they are wrong. A mad methamphetamine dealer who is hiding his secret lab on his farm is determined to find out who the trespassers are and make sure they don’t leave with his secret alive.

The Director, Russell Kostner has completed over 100 films, however “Reach” will be his first feature. He brings inspiration from the 80’s adventure style of “The Goonies,” and more modern visual styles from “Wolf Creek” and “The Ring.” He is very excited to be working on the film with actors David Dorfman from “The Ring” and Edward Furlong from “Terminator 2: Judgement Day.”

With the Executive Producer, Christpher Gosch, of “Zanes Sex Chronicles” set to produce, cinematographer, Matthew Kubas from “National Treasure 2,” “The Fast & The Furious,” and “Iron Man,” and Visual Effects Supervisor, Lance Razner, from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” this film is sure to hit the road running, and not just from the mad methamphetamine farmer.

Who would have thought that geeks can go an exciting adventure too, but what makes it all the more better is that they don’t know how to deal with the excitement because they are geeks! Like in “SAW,” they have to overcome their problems using their heads instead of brute force in order to succeed, which in the end let’s geeks rule once again.
